Improve your formulation with Shin-Etsu excipients.

Liquid and Others

Liquid and semi-solid dosage forms utilize mostly hypromellose like PHARMACOAT® and TYLOPUR®, as well as methyl cellulose METOLOSE®. These excipients are used to increase viscosity, or to utilize the non-ionic surfactant properties of the cellulose ethers.

Thickening

METOLOSE® have been known for a long time and have found wide acceptance for liquid preparation as a thickener in aqueous systems.

Suspending

METOLOSE® SM grades are available which will disperse in water to produce viscous colloidal solutions suitable for use as suspending agents. Methyl cellulose is non-ionic and therefore stable over pH range of 3-11, and are compatible with many ionic additives.

Oral films

Transparent films are obtained by casting METOLOSE®, PHARMACOAT® and TYLOPUR® solutions. Although METOLOSE® films are relatively rigid they can be made flexible by adding plasticizers such as glycerin, propylene glycol, sorbitol, and triethyl citrate. The film properties markedly depend on the moisture content.
