The company SE Tylose GmbH & Co. KG is located in Wiesbaden, Germany. SE Tylose is a subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd.. Shin-Etsu Chemical is one of the world’s leading chemical companies with more than 21,000 employees globally. At SE Tylose in Wiesbaden around 550 employees work in R&D, production, sales, distribution and administration.

SE Tylose develops, produces and distributes a wide range of cellulose ether specialty products contributing to society through different industry sectors: industrial, healthcare and food.

TYLOSE® is a registered trademark since 1926. The name is an abbreviation of the chemical constitution of the product and is derived from the words "methyl" and "cellulose".

TYLOPUR® is a registered trademark. The name is partly an abbreviation of the chemical constitution of the product and is derived from the words "methyl" and "cellulose". The other part is an abbreviation of the word "pure", because these grades are of higher level of purity and production control, intended for use in health care as well as food applications.

In addition to its own products TYLOSE® and TYLOPUR®, SE Tylose distributes pharma and food quality cellulose ethers produced by the parent company Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd., in Naoetsu, Japan. The well established brands METOLOSE®, PHARMACOAT®, Shin-Etsu AQOAT®, HPMCP, L-HPC and SmartEx® are part of the SE Tylose product portfolio.

Additives for industrial applications are traded under the brand names Hostapur® and Tylovis®.
