Our Journey

SE Tylose GmbH & Co. KG recognises its responsibility for business activities which cause an environmental impact. For us, sustainability means reconciling environmental, social and economic aspects. To move forward on our sustainability journey, we have identified the following key areas:

Environmental Protection

As a significant consumer of energy and resources, we have the responsibility to reduce our emissions.
We are working as a team to improve energy efficiency in our plants, drive decarbonisation and support the development of more sustainable products.
A full Life Cycle Assessment of our products identifies the hot spots in our energy consumption and shows us how we can reduce the environmental impact of our products.
Our products support various UN Sustainable Development Goals through their applications. For example, by using our TYLOSE® products to insulate homes, supporting reduction of emissions from buildings in line with SDG 13 Climate Action.
In 2024, SE Tylose started a program to define targets for greenhouse gas emission reduction by 2045. We have committed to set near-term company-wide emission reductions in line with climate science with the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi).
SE Tylose is partner in the Cluster Dekarbonisierung der Industrie.

Supply Chain

SE Tylose sources its raw materials from various regions of the world. Our aim is to keep supply routes short and sustainable, for example by using ships and rail instead of roads. We strive for a trusting and long-term relationship with our suppliers and partners and rely on strategic partnerships that ensure stable processes within our supply chain.

Adherence to Legal Obligations

We engage proactively with the continuously changing landscape of legal obligations and formal requirements and strictly comply with them.

Social Responsibility

We continue to comply with the relevant international codes of conduct and do our best to promote human rights.
We are committed to treating all employees with respect and dignity. Fair and appropriate wages ensure the livelihood of our employees.
Our internal and external code of conduct provide a frameworks for our daily work with colleagues and business partners.
Our pharmaceutical excipients and food additives, produced under the brand name TYLOPUR®, have a wide variety of applications in the production of medicines and food supplements contributing to the UN sustainable development goals.
SE Tylose and its employees support local social initiatives to help develop and engage with the communities in which we live.

Transparent Communication Towards our Stakeholders

For transparent communication on the sustainability of our business activities, we rely on comprehensive sustainability assessment through the EcoVadis platform, and our biannual Sustainability Report.
To provide full transparency on the environmental footprint of our products, we have completed a Life Cycle Assessment. A Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) has been prepared according to ISO 14040/44. The result of this assessment is our externally verified Environmental Product Declaration which covers not only greenhouse gas emissions, but also our products’ environmental footprint in a wide range of impact categories.

SE Tylose is based in Wiesbaden, Germany, producing approximately 65.000 tons of cellulose ether annually and is one of the world's most important cellulose ether suppliers.

We are focusing on a comprehensive approach to supplier management which aligns with sustainability and ethical standards.
